Coach, co-founder of The Collective Fitness and a proud part of the CIARAN community

City Rhythms with Miguel

For Miguel Nogueira, balance is found in movement, both physical and emotional. As a coach, coffee lover, and Lisbon native, Miguel shares a pace of life that speaks to CIARAN’s core: considered, connected, and rooted in community.

Mornings with Meaning

Most weekdays start early, 5:17 AM to be exact. A glass of lemon water with ginger and pink salt, a moment of silence, and then he’s off to The Collective Fitness, where he coaches the 6:30 AM class.

It’s more than just a workout. Miguel arrives 30–40 minutes early to set the tone, prep the space, and brew coffee for the crew. After class, breakfast is a quiet ritual shared with his partner Margarida: two boiled eggs, oat porridge, and a Batch Brew.

If it’s a slower morning, he sleeps with the window open, letting the Lisbon sun do the waking. After breakfast, there’s time for meditation and laptop work from the balcony, then training around 11.

Whether he’s coaching or training, TCF is always where the day begins. “That energy sets a great tone”

Grounding Spaces

There’s a quiet spot Miguel escapes to near Tapada das Necessidades. It overlooks the bridge, tucked away just enough to feel sacred. “I won’t say exactly where it is, gotta keep something for myself.”

The City, Slowly

No fixed route. Just a motorbike, his girlfriend on the back, and the freedom to roam. “That’s how I like to experience Lisbon: calmly, with curiosity.”

Some days it’s the slow pace by the river. Other days, it’s the rush of the city centre — coffee stops, the sound of life buzzing around. But always, Miguel moves through it with awareness.

Clearing the Mind

Here’s a ritual that’s both strange and beautiful: he and Margarida park near the airport runway just to watch planes take off and land. “There’s something really peaceful about it. Just sitting, watching movement and stillness at once.”

Home-Brewed Moments
His favourite café? Home. Filter coffee, hand-ground, slow-brewed, enjoyed on the balcony overlooking Lisbon’s aqueduct and the trees of Monsanto.

“Good coffee, a friend or family member, a view, a bit of silence. That’s perfect.”

What Community Means

“Community is everything to me.”

Miguel lives by a simple philosophy, give and receive love, live honestly, and build something that leaves a positive impact.

“The Collective Fitness is how I do that. It’s where I connect, support, and grow with people. I can’t imagine life without that sense of shared belonging.”

Building The Collective

TCF was born out of a desire for more than just fitness. It’s a space where egos stay out and good vibes come in, a “third place” between work and home where people feel safe, seen, and part of something.

“It’s about training sustainably, responsibly, and with meaning. Physical strength, yes, but also emotional connection.”

The CIARAN Hoodie
“My go-to is the CIARAN hoodie,” Miguel shares. “There’s something about that weight, that structure… it just grounds you.”

“It fits like it was made for you, and it was. The attention to detail, the quality. It’s not just what I wear. It’s how I feel when I wear it.”
